The variety of landscapes on this island is baffling. Yesterday my two hostel friends and I walked through a vast forest of pines with giant needles, pinus canariensis, nowadays only found here. The winding path along steep, sometimes exposed slopes offered many awe inspiring views of Spain's highest mountan, the 3700m massive Teide volcano.
